Epic Renegade - Smooth Operator
Smooth, smooth, smooth. I apologise now if this whole review contains lots of smooth in it. In fact if i just wrote smooth one thousand times and you have flown the Renegade, you'll agree my review is 100% accurate. But I'll try to be more descriptive for those who haven't flown it.
Unlike the boxy business like look of the Screamer, the Renegade looks more svelte. still not like the dainty pointy tip deltas, but strong and beautiful. Everyone agrees the graphics is really nice without any fearsome tribal motiff as is common these days. Very unique assymetrical pattern with the trade mark Epic logo in gold that glints in the sunlight.
Unlike the Screamer, which you have to work the kite to get the best from it, the Renegade is like the perfect dance partner that takes you by the hand and guides you or lets you shine on your own merit on the dance floor, flatwater or in the surf. Lean back hard against it and it pulls you in a nice smooth stream of power, push it away and it glides along with you as you do your thing, always waiting for you. Jump and it will lift you up high and float you down gently.
This kite is simply the perfect gentleman. Beginners will progress quickly with this kite and yet will never out grow it. Seasoned riders will like how easy it is to access all of its performance. If you are learning or trying new tricks, the Renegade is the kite you will nail it with. It makes you feel like a hero. If you're out for an evening ride in small surf, this kite will make you feel you're riding the perfect wave as you slash and carve.
The Renegade is an extremely well balanced kite that scores highly in all performance aspects. It doesn't have to be the most powerful, or fastest or highest jumping kite because the sum total of its numerous talents will outshine any other kite. Period.
