Every size of the TS kite is uniquely engineered for a specific set of riding conditions - allowing the TS range to cover all riders and riding styles. Every aspect of design, shaping, material selection and construction in the TS has been refined to bring each size even closer to perfection. Any rider looking for a high wind kite that is stable and predictable needs look no further than the 4m and 5.5m TS kites. Unhooked wave riders will find that the medium size TS kites offer the perfect blend of tight and fast steering responsiveness, light bar pressure and unhooked control, allowing them to express their style like never before. New-school riders searching for blistering performance will be blown away by the improvements in handling, power delivery and jumping from the mid-sized TS kites. Hooked or unhooked the 7m -14m TS kites deliver greater stability, precise feedback and more performance than ever before.

7m TS

Disclosure: I ride any brand, Slingshot RPM, Kahoona V3 9.5, 2009 Waroo 5m

My Comments: I have never been on a Wave kite that is just perfect in every way, I rode the Taboo last year, but was not impressed with its grunt as you had to go up a size, but they were smooth kites. I like kites with no pulleys if you can help it. The bridal is minimal, and the new best bar is such an improvement on last years models. A huge thanks to Nigel Cassidy who put in a lot of time over the weekend, but the bugger is going to cost me lots of money.

I first went out at around 12:45-2pm and had the kite fully powered, it was a little gusty. I was massaging the turns a little to start with, but after 5mins I noticed you didnt need to. The kite has normal grunt, not like a lot of wave kites on the market, is extremely quick, without being jerky, and drifts like nothing else Ive ever had the satisfaction of riding. When doing down-wind a little the kite didnt lose heaps of power and you could still plane adequately. Relaunch, I have no idea as rarely drop my kite in the drink.

In the onnshore conditions with a little side shore I could do powered roundhouse cut-backs Sorry KOTP, but it can be done. Unstrapped airs were a little hard due to the gust and the wind strength, yet the kite powers and depowers enough so they will be easy with a little more practice probably on a 10m. Im goint to have to demo one of those too.

On my second run, it was reaching 30knots and I had the kite on Half depower and was fully lit, the canopy has no shudder whatsoever , unless doing hard turns to gybe, with the bar almost extended fully to kill some power. I dont think the build quality on the 7m was as extreme as the 8m taboo, but reinforced everywhere needed, maybe to save on a little weight, same build quality as the Kahoona V3 and V4 in construction. I did not do freestyle on the kite as have no ambition, but my mate Nigel did and loved it as well. Most of the time I didnt even knnow what the kite was doing, as you dont even have to think about it, it just does its thing, and behaves like nothing else I have ever flown. This is not a basic beginners kite due to the leading edge shape, but a beginner could learn on it easy as pie, and would never have to upgrade.

I cant believe Im saying this as I had no intention of buying anything for this season, but a Nobile 2HD, an 8m 2010 RPM, and a brand new kahoona 9.5 will be going cheap, I'm that stoked.

10m Best TS

At a Glance

Sadly we only got our hand on the now TS for an afternoon, so this isn’t a full test but more of a first impression. The damn things are so in demand and not available yet that we couldn’t got a longer ride on one. Expect a full review shortly.

The TS is the evolution of the Taboo which was a very popular new kite from Best last year. The basic design premise was to have 3 different kites in one range, so the larger 15 and 1 7m kites are very different to the medium sized and smaller sized kites. Obviously the 4, 55m smoll” sizes are optimized for strong winds, the medium sized 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 14 are designed for moderate winds with a focus towards wave riding and new school performance and the big kites are aimed at light winds and racing. Getting the 10m out of the bag we were quite literally blown away, the attention to detail is on another level and the all over pnnt on the kite coupled with the smart graphics really set the TS apart in the looks deportment. The construction is solid too and there are plenty of reinforcements in all the right areas. We should also note that every size of the TS is different, ensuring the maximum effectiveness for any given windrange.

The Bar

The new bar that Best hove developed really moves on in quite a big step from the Rod Line bar from last year. The side floats have gone and instead the soft EVA bull horns provide all the buoyancy the bar needs. The chicken loop has been tweaked from last years design and features no mechanical parts. It releases really easily ans is very simple to reconnect too. An above the bar webbing pull pull trim system deals with depower and trim and there is a stopper ball too. Two OShit handles add even more security.

In The Air

Due to the short nature of the test we never really got to try the top end out on the TS, but we were very impressed by the low end of the 10m kite. The wide wingtips and direct bar steering make it very responsive and you can generate lots of power but sweeping the kite up and down. The turning speed is quick and the bar pressure is fairly light, although of course you can trim the settings on the kite to sot it up to your desired feel. The TS is one of the most responsive kites we hove flown, and we can’t wait to try it out in some stronger winds. Just as soon as we con get our hands on a longer term test kite!

Overall

Excellent build quality and truly next level attention to detail in terms of the graphics. Great low end, fast and responsive... More to follow when we get to fly it in some stronger winds.
