Blade Fat Lady (2012)
Hot
Like all other Blade kites, the Fat Lady is designed to be fast. After almost 2 years in prototyping, her innovative design and is hands down the most dynamic light wind 17m on the market. What makes the design so special is that it pushes the technical limits of maximum efficiency by linking all aspects of the geometry and construction to work together to conduct the forces of flight. The clearest example of this is the approach to Fat Lady's LE. Typically other big kites rely on a massive LE to maintain their large structure. The Fat Lady has by far the leanest LE on a 17m kite, smaller than typical 12m kites. This provides key performance advances in the power to weight ratio, flying speed, turning speed, and overall handling. This super thin LE is technically possible only when all other elements in the kite such as the canopy, struts, and bridle are optimized to integrate in motion to support the structure. In prototype development, the LE was reduced in increments, and with each reduction all other elements of the kite were consequently redesigned to support it. The Fat Lady takes this strategy to the limit, and by applying it to all aspects of the kite, she produces dynamic performance never before seen at this size.

Light winds are actually fun
Ive been testing triggers to replace my Vegas quiver and though i am yet to be totally convinced on them , they are the best 2012 kite i have tried so far. I havent bit the bullet yet as i want to try more kites before making up my mind. I also tried the Ozone Zepher and the blade fat lady as i want to try to get away with 3 kites. A 7 + 10m , then either a 14m or one of the light wind offerings. I have never liked big kites so have been looking toward a 14m trigger (or whichever new quiver i go for) , but tried the Zepher and Fat lady to see what the fuss is about. First up , Its not hype... These new light wind kites are incredible. I have been kitesurifng a loing ime and used to have an 18m F-one. It was slow and painful. The Zepeher had me going in 10 knots no problem , but the fat lady took little more at probaly 11knots. THat said i much preferred it. It relaunched better than the Zepher and jumped higher (even in about 11-12knots) and was much faster through the air and turns. The Zepeher is jsut a cruising kite for light winds which i would get bored of quickly , where i found the fat lady to be a fun and lively kite that you can actually kitesurfin with.
The bags a bit of a squeeze and the bar is quite big ,and if it hits 18knots the depower isnt enough to keep things compfortable ( i tried and it was too much for me), so you wil need a 10-12m kite too , but if you can get past that then this is brill for the 10-16knots days and make s light wind sunny days lots of fun while my chums were watching on the beach or doing down wind runs
